Just like engine oil, transmission oil additives break down over time, no longer properly lubricating the transmission components.

Hard use such as frequent stop and go city driving, hauling heavy loads, trailer or boat towing, or driving in mountainous/inclined terrain will accelerate the deterioration of your transmission fluid.
